16th September 2026 is Scottish Housing Day
WGHC delivers support to the wider, local community (which is one of the co-op principles – concern for community)
This is an annual campaign supported by Scottish Government, the Chartered Institute of Housing and social landlords. It is aimed to encourage people to engage in how housing supports a very important role in our lives (from our physical health to our mental well-being to help create improved communities).
In support of this special day within our sector, WGHC are doing something a bit special…..

Donald Martin (Housing Manager), Fiona Dodds (Housing Officer), Laura Flynn (Housing Assistant) and Sheena Farrell (Housing Officer) are working in partnership with Fresh Start today at their local community pantry in Ferry Road Drive.
Around 40-50 local residents who visit the pantry today, will be able to attend a “Drop-In” Advice session with our staff – who will be on hand to offer practical advice and support covering a whole range of housing/tenancy related matters. The Staff Team hope that by “bringing the support” to local residents who might not ordinarily have access to such a service, will benefit.
If this proves to be successful, both WGHC and Fresh Start have agreed to roll this out on a monthly basis.

WGHC are providing ‘goodie bags’ for 30 attendees.
