WGHC is a fully mutual co-operative housing association.
This means that all tenants of WGHC must first become members of the Co-operative.
Before a formal offer of tenancy can be made, an applicant must apply to become a member of the Co-operative.
Each applicant is invited to complete and submit their application for membership along with a £1 fee.
The applicant is then invited to attend a meeting with Committee Members to discuss their application. If their application is approved a formal offer of tenancy can be made.
The membership with the Co-operative will start on the same day as the tenancy commences. The details of the member will be entered into the Share Register and a Share Certificate is issued.
Membership confers rights and responsibilities.
In particular it gives our tenants a greater opportunity to control the work of the organisation than is possible in any other form of social landlord.
