How do I join West Granton Housing Co-op’s Committee of Management?
West Granton Housing Co-operative is a fully mutual co-operative.
In order to be a fully elected Committee Member, you must be also be a tenant and member of the Co-op. In addition you must satisfy the eligibility criteria as stated in Rule 39 (see page 11 of the WGHC Rule book- you can downloand this using the link below)
Nominations for election to the Committee are sent out to all members each year and must be returned to our office at least 7 days before the AGM.
The Committee can co-opt anyone they consider is suitable to become a Committee Member. Co-optees do not need to be Members, but they can only serve as co-optees on the Committee until the next annual general meeting or until removed by the Committee. A person appointed as a co-optee shall undertake the role of Committee Member and accordingly will be subject to the duties and responsibilities of a Committee Member. Co-optees may not vote or take part in any matters which directly affect the Rules, the membership of the Co-op, or the election of Officer Bearers. In addition, Co-optees may not stand for election, nor be elected as an Office Bearer.
