West Granton Housing Co-operative is a community based housing provider with 372 homes, sited in the North West area of Edinburgh known as West Granton. As a small community based organisation, we have memberships, affiliations and partnerships with various organisations who can be called upon to provide advice, guidance, support and a ‘larger’ voice in times of need. These are indicated below.

Scottish Federation of Housing Associations

- WGHC is affiliated to the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) which is a body which campaigns and lobbies for housing associations and co-operatives. It is also a source of training and advice on good practice. Our Chief Operating Officer sits as a Non-Executive Director on the SFHA Board of Directors.
The Confederation of Co-operative Housing

- WGHC is a member of the Confederation of Co-operative Housing. Celebrating over 30 years of existence, the Confederation of Co-operative Housing (CCH) was founded in 1993 and is the UK organisation representing housing co-operatives, tenant-controlled housing organisations and regional federations of housing co-ops. Our Chief Executive Officer sits as a Non-Executive Director on the CCH Board of Directors.
Glasgow and West of Scotland Forum of Housing Associations

- WGHC is an associate member of the Glasgow and West of Scotland Forum of Housing Associations. Glasgow and West of Scotland Forum of Housing Associations (GWSF) is the membership body for community-controlled housing associations (CCHAs) and co-operatives in west central Scotland. Its main purpose is to promote, represent and campaign on behalf of CCHAs and to share information and best practice. There are 64 member associations in GWSF.
Co-operatives UK

- WGHC is a partner member of Co-Operatives UK with the aim of promoting and supporting the co-operative movement to the benefit of all WGHC tenants.
Employers in Voluntary Housing

- WGHC is a member of Employers in Voluntary Housing (EVH). This is an organisation which provides support and advice to over 100 not for profit organisations in relation to their role as employers. This includes setting a common system of salaries, grades and terms and conditions for the majority of these employers including WGHC.
Alliance of Registered Co-operatives & Housing Associations, Independent in Edinburgh

- ARCHIE’s purpose is to secure benefits to all members and their respective customers/service users, improving the access to and cost effectiveness of services and for required specialisms to provide additional capacity, secure added value, to reduce/mitigate risk, and to improve assurance with regulatory compliance.As a voluntary partnership of equals (not a group structure or amalgamation), the members of the Alliance deliver services to more than 20,000 people throughout Edinburgh and collectively employ approx. 440 permanent staff, which are overseen by more than 100 voluntary Board/Committee Members. Scotland’s Housing Network

- In 2015 WGHC became a member of Scotland’s Housing Network. This is a consortium of local authority and housing association landlords working together to drive up performance, meet the demands of Best Value and deliver quality services by means of benchmarking, peer review, good practice exchange and information sharing.
Building Safety Group

- WGHC joined the Building Safety Group to have access to external experts and consultants, on call, to provide information, documentation, alerts and assistance with various maintenance related issues. Assistance can be provided with Risk Assessments, Method Statements, COSHH Assessments, Safety Alerts, New Legislation Updates and online access to over 200 related Health & Safety document policy templates. This will prove to be an invaluable service to WGHC as a small, community controlled registered social landlord and should give further assurance to the Committee of Management and all WGHC tenants.
Living Wage Employer

- In 2018 West Granton Housing Co-op received accreditation from Living Wage Scotland as a Living Wage Employer. As a Living Wage Employer all our staff are paid at least the living wage hourly rate and we use Contractors and Suppliers who also support this standard. This aligns with our Fair Work First Policy.
Investors in Excellence

- WGHC was recognised as an Investor in Excellence in June 2025, having committed to an excellence framework and journey back in 2023. Our accrediation plaque is proudly displayed within our reception area and is almost the first thing any visitor to our office would see.
